Fix your contacts file before HubSpot rejects it.

Upload a messy CSV. This fixes the things that make HubSpot imports fail or create duplicates, then gives you a file that is ready to import. Rows it can't fix are set aside in a separate file, never silently deleted.

Before you import

  1. In HubSpot go to Contacts → Import → Start an import, choose File from computer, then One file with one object and Contacts.
  2. On the mapping step, check that Email is mapped to HubSpot's Email property. It is the identifier HubSpot uses to avoid duplicate contacts.
  3. Columns HubSpot can't match, you map by hand or skip.

HubSpot limits (from its documentation): files up to 20 MB on free tools and 512 MB on paid plans, up to 1,048,576 rows per file on paid plans, UTF-8 encoding for accented characters. Not checked yet by this tool: date columns, and dropdown values such as Lifecycle stage, which must match HubSpot's options exactly.
